Job Purpose

The Night Shift Millwright will maintain, troubleshoot, overhaul, and repair all equipment to required standards, while being responsive to line calls, equipment failures and sanitation teams needs as they arise. The Technical Team Member routinely performs work independently and must be able to work in an environment with many distractions while maintaining a high level of accuracy in performing their duties. The shift hours are: 11:00pm - 7:30am, working from Sunday to Thursday.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Adheres to Conestoga Meat Packer's Core Values.
  • Follows and complies with all Food Safety regulatory requirements, including GMP's.
  • Follows and complies with all Operational Procedures and Policies including CSA, OSHA, BRC and all other applicable regulations.
  • Use or wear all protective equipment required for the assigned tasks and in compliance with Company policies.
  • Proficient in troubleshooting / repairs and system improvements (optimization) to ensure quality and efficiency.
  • Operate machine tools such as grinders, and welders to fabricate stainless steel components as required.
  • Rebuild and/or overhaul machinery and equipment, as required.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, diagrams, and schematic drawings to determine work procedures; identifies replacement parts.
  • Assist onsite contractors, as required.
  • Perform preventative maintenance (PM's) on all equipment as required; documents and maintains details of inspections within CMMS program.
  • Demonstrates a sense of urgency in achieving results.
  • Install, align, dismantle, and move industrial machinery and mechanical equipment, such as pumps, fans, conveyors, according to layout plans using hand and power tools.
  • Operate hoisting and lifting devices such as forklifts, jacks, and telehandlers to position machinery and parts during the installation, set-up, and repair of machinery.
  • Confined space entry and working from heights, as required.
  • Interacts with CFIA on a daily basis.
  • Participate in ongoing cross-training as required.
  • Performs other duties as required.

Qualifications


  • Ontario Certificate of Qualification Industrial Maintenance Mechanic (433A)
  • Candidates will have a Certificate of Apprenticeship or possess a recognized equivalent (optional).
  • Minimum of two (2) years demonstrated and verifiable experience working in a food processing environment.
  • Competent using SMAW and GTAW (tig) welding processes.
  • Working knowledge (oral/written) of both English and Mathematics.
  • Working knowledge of CSA/OHSA Standards and regulations.
  • Working knowledge PLC Programming and troubleshooting experience, an asset.
  • Ability to work in various locations within and outside the plant.
  • Good attention to detail, excellent organizational and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work to deadlines and multiple demands.
  • Demonstrates the ability to work effectively in a team environment or individually.
  • Ability to work overtime to meet customer needs.
  • Ability to work independently and without supervision.
  • Ability to uphold confidentiality.
