Maintenance Supervisor - Day Shift Continental - Job Description


JOB PURPOSE:

Reporting to Maintenance Manager, Maintenance Supervisor is responsible for the overall maintenance of the facility and directing, supervising and coordinating activities among the Maintenance team.

KEY JOB FUNCTIONS / ROLES / RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Responsible to manage and direct all Maintenance employees in day-to-day activities in accordance with the principles of CMP's core values
  • Responsible for conducting and issuing performance reviews; identifies training needs within the department; provides informal feedback; provides ongoing
  • communication through daily meetings
  • Ensures all legislative training requirements are maintained
  • Responsible for monitoring attendance and reviewing and authorizing weekly payroll
  • Assists and supports employees with any issues or concerns
  • Responsible for issuing discipline as required
  • Assign and distribute weekly/daily preventative maintenance work orders
  • Evaluate existing and potential suppliers
  • Actively participate in plant audits (Safety & HACCP) to ensure maintenance activities are compliant
  • Achieves financial objectives by monitoring results, analysing results and initiating corrective actions
  • Promotes continuous improvement and identifies cost reduction/savings opportunities.
  • Maintains safety standards of equipment and work area
  • Plans and directs the efficient utilization of all equipment and manpower
  • Follows and complies with all Operational Procedures and policies
  • Ensures compliance with all Health & Safety policies within the department; conducts accident investigations; identifies and reports hazards in the workplace; actively works to prevent accidents, injuries with the workplace
  • Ensures compliance with all GMP's, HACCP and CFIA procedures


Personal Development

  • Attend company required training
  • Remain current with technical knowledge in areas of responsibility
  • Attend regular 1:1 coaching/update sessions


QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Ontario Certificate of Qualification in the required field (Millwright or Electrician)
  • Minimum 3-5 years related technical manufacturing experience, preferably within the meat processing industry
  • Minimum 3-5 years related Supervisory experience
  • Ability to be flexible in hours of work in order to meet internal/external customer requirements including overtime
  • Ability to uphold and maintain confidentiality
  • Demonstrated proficiency in Basic computer skills (Microsoft Office, Outlook)
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively in English, both written and verbally, to all levels of the organization

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and responsibilities, within identified time constraints, to achieve results


WORKING CONDITIONS

  • Noise levels may exceed 85 DbA (hearing protection is provided)
  • Cold environment
  • Working in close proximity of knives
  • Working in congested and high forklift traffic areas
  • Some areas may have odours


PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • May be required to lift up to 50 pounds on an occasional basis
