HR Specialist (contract) - Job Description


Job Purpose

This is a 4 month contract role working in our Human Resources department. This role will help take on overflow work and assist on important initiatives as the department continues to grow. Work will be in various areas of HR including employee relations, training and development, talent and organizational development, and culture.


Duties and Responsibilities

  • Project and day to day work within the different functions of HR
  • Work with the Training Team on new and existing salaried training programs
  • Work on Talent and Development programs such as organizational changes and leadership development initiatives
  • Prepare and review all plant communications for employees
  • Participate in employee relations issues and resolutions if team requires
  • Assist with various HR projects being able to jump in and have an eye for detail and keeping projects moving along
  • Working with employees on SMART goal setting
  • Facilitate training sessions on various HR content in a professional and friendly manner
  • Administrative support

Qualifications

  • Post-secondary degree in a related discipline with CHRP designation
  • 1 - 3 years ideally working in the HR function
  • Employee relations and legislation experience (ie. policy writing)
  • Project management experience
  • Attention to detail
  • Demonstrated communication skills
  • Customer service focused
  • Organized
  • Experience working in a manufacturing environment is ideal
  • Post-secondary degree in a related discipline with CHRP designation is preferred

Working Conditions

  • Works an occasional weekend and early/late hours to support different shifts and requirements
  • Cold environment at times
  • Noise levels may exceed 85 DbA (hearing protection is provided) at times
  • Working in congested and high forklift traffic areas at times
