AZ DRIVER PM SHIFT - $25.70 to start +$1.25 afternoon shift premium

JOB PURPOSE:

As part of the Conestoga team you will play an important role providing specialty and retail pork products to over 30 countries from one of the largest pork processing plants in Canada. Not only are there opportunities for production work but you will get the chance to train on specialty knife or machine operator positions to expand your skills. KEY JOB FUNCTIONS / ROLES / RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • This position will support the Afternoon shift. Hours of work are from 3:00 PM – 11:30 PM Monday - Friday
  • Shunt trailers and shipping duties, as required
  • Safely operate all equipment required to complete assignments
  • Deliver product to customers on time and maintain a high level of customer service
  • Complete all necessary paperwork, including Bills of Lading and invoices
  • Complete all pre-trip inspections; identify and report any vehicle deficiencies
  • Drive defensively at all times and adhere to all regulatory requirements
  • Unload trailers with pump truck
  • Communicate with Conestoga Meats dispatch
  • Ensures compliance with health and safety policies and procedures
  • Report, and where possible, correct unsafe acts, practices and/or conditions.
  • Report all injuries.
  • Make suggestions to improve the safety program
  • Required to identify and report any hazard(s) in their workplace
  • Required to report any accidents, injuries requiring first aid, health care, lost time injuries, occupational diseases or incidents
  • Use PPE as required
  • Operate assigned equipment is a safe manner.
  • Ensures safe and clean work environment maintained

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must have a valid driver's license and a clean driving abstract
  • Personal value set that corresponds to Conestoga Meats Company values
  • 2+ years of experience with driving tractor/trailers
  • Grade 12 education or equivalent
  • Holds a valid AZ License
  • Good verbal communication skills (oral & written)
  • Strong interpersonal skills / team orientation
  • Ability to be flexible and learn new tasks
  • Ability to make decisions under pressure

WORK CONDITIONS:

  • Work areas have a potential for congestion and moving vehicles (forklifts, jitneys, etc.)
  • Slippery ground/floor. Pieces of product, wood on the floor/wet floors inside trailer/plant. Ice and wet ground in inclement weather. Be aware of your surroundings, check tread on footwear and maintain good housekeeping in units.
